How to Make Clay at Home - Little Dreamers Club

Looking for a simple and fun craft to keep your kids engaged? Try making homemade clay!

This easy-to-follow recipe uses everyday kitchen ingredients and is perfect for little hands to shape and decorate. Plus, it’s a great activity to encourage creativity and fine motor skill development!

About This Project:

What You’ll Need:

  • 2 cups baking soda
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1 ¼ cups water
  • Food coloring
  • Optional: Wiggle eyes, feathers, chenille sticks, craft sticks, pompoms

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1️⃣ Combine Ingredients – Pour the baking soda, cornstarch, and water into a pot.
2️⃣ Cook the Mixture – Stir over medium heat until it thickens into a mashed potato-like consistency.
3️⃣ Cool & Divide – Let the clay cool, then separate it into four pieces.
4️⃣ Add Color & Knead – Mix in food coloring and knead each piece until smooth.
5️⃣ Create & Decorate – Shape your clay into fun objects! Add wiggle eyes, feathers, or other craft materials for extra flair.
6️⃣ Let It Dry – Leave your creations in a sunny spot to harden.
