We’re excited to spotlight a game review written by Robert “TheChirurgeon” Jones and originally published on, Games for Young Kids: Snail Sprint! | Goonhammer This shortened version is shared here with his permission — be sure to check out his full article for more detail!
Snail Sprint! At a Glance
On a recent game store trip, Robert’s five-year-old son picked up Snail Sprint! by HABA. The game comes in a clever metal tin (which doubles as the game board) and uses magnetic snail pieces that race around the outside of the box.
The goal is simple but engaging: each player secretly gets three snails and tries to move them across the finish line. Players roll dice to decide which snail moves forward, keeping their snails hidden while nudging them toward victory.
Kid-Friendly Elements
-
🐌 Fun, colorful snails with magnets that climb around the box.
-
🎲 Easy-to-learn dice mechanics.
-
🎯 A mix of luck and simple strategy (without being too cutthroat).
Things to Consider
The game can be tricky for very young players to grasp — especially the hidden snail mechanic. Robert’s son enjoyed it but didn’t want to revisit it as often as some other favorites like Rhino Hero Super Battle. It might shine more as kids get older and can better understand the strategy.
Final Verdict
Snail Sprint! is visually fun, unique, and worth a try if you’re looking for something different — but its replay value may depend on your child’s age and interest level.
