Get ready to sparkle and celebrate! These DIY New Year’s Eve Poppers are the perfect way to add excitement and color to your countdown celebration.
They’re fun to make with the kids—or you can prep them ahead of time and surprise guests with a confetti-filled pop at midnight. Whether you’re hosting a family party or a cozy night in, these festive creations will bring laughter, joy, and plenty of pop!
✨ What You’ll Need (Makes 4 Poppers)
-
4 Empty toilet paper tubes
-
Tissue paper — 4 assorted colors
-
Gift wrap ribbon — gold and silver
-
Round metallic confetti
-
Optional: Small notes or “New Year wishes” to tuck inside
🪩 Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Make the Confetti
Cut small squares of tissue paper in different colors. Stack the sheets, cut them into ½-inch strips, then chop into tiny squares. The more you make, the more colorful your poppers will be!
2. Cut Your Tissue Wraps
Cut 3 squares of each tissue color, each about 10×10 inches. Keep the sets organized by color.
3. Prepare the Tubes
Cut each toilet paper tube in half. This makes them easier to break open later. Place both halves in the center of one of your tissue paper squares.
4. Wrap and Tie One End
Roll the paper around the tube evenly so both ends have extra paper. Tie one end closed with a gold or silver ribbon. Knot it and curl the ends for a festive touch.
5. Fill the Poppers
Add your metallic and tissue confetti inside the open end. If you’d like, include a small message or a New Year’s wish inside!
6. Seal the Other End
Tie the remaining open end closed with another ribbon. Knot it and curl the ends.
🥳 Time to Celebrate!
When midnight strikes, pull the poppers apart and let the confetti rain down! These are perfect for kids and adults alike and make wonderful party favors, table decorations, or countdown surprises.
Each popper brings a burst of fun and celebration—just like the new year ahead!
💡 Craft Tip:
Add tiny treats, stickers, or positive affirmations inside for an extra surprise. You can even personalize each popper with names or custom messages.
