DIY Jointed Green Gobbler Monster – A Movable Craft for Kids That Grabs and Gobbles! - Little Dreamers Club

Looking for a quirky and creative craft that also sneaks in a little learning? Say hello to the Green Gobbler—a fun, jointed monster craft that moves, grabs, and even gobbles things up!

This hands-on project is great for kids of all ages. While they’re crafting, your little ones will be learning about joints and hinges, practicing cutting and pasting, and strengthening their sequencing and dexterity skills. Plus, it’s a fantastic screen-free activity that leads to loads of imaginative play.

🎨 What You’ll Need:

  • Thin cardboard

  • Cardstock

  • Markers

  • Metal paper fasteners (brads)

🛠️ Instructions:

  1. Build the base: Glue two sheets of thin cardboard together. Then glue a sheet of cardstock on top for added strength and a fun background.

  2. Create your monster: Draw and cut out the Green Gobbler's shapes, including dotted areas where joints will connect.

  3. Bring it to life: Use cardstock and markers to add eyes, a nose, and personality!

  4. Add movement: Punch holes where marked and use metal paper fasteners to hinge the parts together.

  5. Get gobbling! Move your Green Gobbler’s limbs to make him chomp and grab!

🧠 Learning Through Play:

  • Creativity & Art: Kids design their own monster face and color it however they like.

  • Fine Motor Skills: Cutting, pasting, and fastening pieces helps build hand strength and coordination.

  • STEM Concepts: Understanding how joints work and following steps in a sequence teaches early engineering skills.

💡 Extend the Fun!

For Younger Kids:
Pretend your Green Gobbler only eats green food! What’s on his monster menu? Use crayons and stickers to make a silly illustrated meal.

For Older Kids:
Turn your Green Gobbler into a prankster—pose him around the house grabbing cookies, washcloths, or remotes! Or transform him into a desktop buddy who holds Post-Its and notes as a “monster reminder system.”

Craft Time: 30 minutes
Best For Ages: All ages (with adult help for little ones)
