DIY Floating Glitter Tumbler

Looking for a fun and creative craft that combines sparkle and function? This DIY Floating Glitter Tumbler is the perfect project for glitter lovers of all ages. Whether you're making a personalized gift, crafting for fun, or just want to jazz up your drinkware—this tumbler brings the shimmer in every shake!

This project is surprisingly easy to put together and allows for tons of creativity. Choose your favorite glitter colors, customize with decals or vinyl designs, and show off your one-of-a-kind cup wherever you go!

Materials You’ll Need:

  • Double-walled plastic tumbler (with a sealed inner wall and removable bottom)

  • Distilled water

  • Clear glue or glycerin (to slow glitter movement)

  • Fine and chunky glitter (use your favorite colors!)

  • Small funnel or squeeze bottle

  • Super glue or strong adhesive

  • Optional: Vinyl decals or stickers for extra personalization

  •  Adult assistance is recommended, especially for cutting and gluing.

Instructions:

  1. Open the Tumbler:
If your tumbler has a plug or twist-off base, carefully open it to access the inner chamber.

  2. Add the Glitter:
Use your funnel to pour in your glitter mix. A combo of fine and chunky glitter creates the best floating effect.

  3. Add the Liquid Mix:
In a small bottle or cup, mix distilled water with clear glue or glycerin (about 2:1 ratio of water to glue). Pour it into the tumbler chamber, leaving a small air gap.

  4. Seal It Up:
Once filled, seal the opening with super glue and let it dry completely. Make sure the seal is secure to prevent leaks.

  5. Decorate the Outside (Optional):
Add vinyl decals, stickers, or your name using waterproof labels for that extra personalized touch!

Tips for Success:

  • Use distilled water to avoid cloudiness.

  • Glycerin or clear glue helps glitter float more slowly and evenly.

  • Let the tumbler sit upright for a few hours to ensure the glue is completely dry before shaking.

Why We Love It:

This craft is equal parts fun and functional. It makes a great gift for birthdays, Christmas, teacher appreciation, or just as a sparkly treat for yourself! Plus, it’s a fantastic way to let kids explore creativity with color mixing and design.
